A beautiful love story that spanned over 16 years with fascinating character development. As a fan of Liz Carlyle already, it was surprising to find that this was one of her very best stories. Not just another historical romance but deeply inspriring on an emotional and intellectual level.

It was just a little too long and drawn out. I enjoyed the characters. This book was a bit hard for me to get through. It's not that bad but just a little too slow. Liked the hero and heroine.

i especially liked helene's understanding of the traumatized child whose type of affliction was a twist to the usual governess stories and cam's deep affection for his child. this could have been a boring book but all the characters,major & minor, were so well developed, that one couldn't help but be drawn into their world. i'm not a big liz carlyle fan but i would read this book again.

For some odd reason I found this book to be on the rather dark and dreary side.Yet I still really liked it.The characters of Cam and Helene are wonderful. Liz Carlyle gives me makes me feeing that I am reading a true classic. I only wish there had been more romance in the story and less mystery.

I hope you like this one as well as I did. Happy reading. I plan on reading more from L. You'll truly enjoy the story of Camden and Helene in this one. It's not often that one is that worthy. Here's another (rare) 5 star book. I get tired of reading lame books. Carlyle.
